I was pleasantly surprised to find that behind the Troll (see yesterday’s photo) is the Troll Knoll Forest. It shows community sprit and a love of nature.

Today’s photo shows a troll in the Fremont area of Seattle. The troll is under the Arura bridge. So beware when driving in this area. You can see what the troll did to the Volkswagen Beetle.
Tools come from Norwegian folklore so it is appropriate to find a troll close to the National Nordic Museum.

This is a hydrofoil seen on Green Lake. Notice the size of the hydrofoil structure which lifts the board above the water when in motion. The green wing foil is used for power in combination with the hydrofoil board.

Today we share another photo from Lake Union in Seattle. It is actually way too busy however it is true to life in Seattle. In the background you will see sailboats, house boats, home with docks, as well as housing overlooking the water.

Today’s photo shows Lake Union with the Seattle skyline in the background. Wikipedia says “Lake Union flows into the Fremont Cut towards Puget Sound. Lake Union is a natural lake in Seattle that lies north of the city’s central business district”. I shared that detail because of my previous post about Cuts and Channels.

The photo was taken on a ferry ride from Friday Harbor to Anacortes. It is then a 1.5 hours drive to Seattle.
Given I do not own a sailboat (see yesterday’s post for my dreams of owning a sailboat) we naturally used a Washington State Ferry to make the crossing to Friday Harbor. Interesting I have a lot to learn; for instance the San Juan islands sit in the Puget Sound however the water between the islands is referred to as the San Juan Channel. While the water on the eastern side of the the islands is called the Rosario Strait. It turns out that there are several small passages (examples include: Haro Strait, Boundary Pass, Spieden Channel) between the islands.
This photo show a sailboat docking at Friday Harbor. I wish this was mine but it’s not. Note that I have proposed selling our condo, buying a sailboat, and living on the water. Unfortunately my wife does not agree :).

During our weekend trip, to Friday Harbor, we stayed in the Tucker House Bed and Breakfast. After a long day of travel, watching a World Cup game, and lots of strolling; we enjoyed our bed and our breakfast. The common area was nice and the flowers were outstanding.
