This vintage Fiatti sits at the entrance to an Italian restaurant we frequency in the University Village mall (most often called UVillage). The name of the restaurant is Piatti which I understand translates to Plate in English. But when we review or restaurant options we always think of this one as the restaurant with the little red car.

While looking for something to do with our grandkids we found Pitch and Putt which is a Par 3 gold course meet to Green Lake in Seattle.

The photo and the location allows us to continue the color theme for one more day.

Today’s photo continues to play on the theme of color. Specifically orange and yellow.

An internet search indicates this painting was most likely created by Annie Howell-Adams, a well-known Friday Harbor based artist.

This photo was taken during a recent day trip to Friday Harbor. Several other post shared details about the trip, the boats, the B&B we staycityed at, and the food.

It was just a short drive and ferry from Seattle.

Today is theme day, in the City Daily Photo community. The theme is purple and our contribution is this photo of a quilt with purple in the pattern.

Note that the quilt was created by my sister who, in the past, also made City Daily Photo post from Sequim Washington.

We were thrilled to watch the Blue Angels at Seattle’s Seafair Festival. This photo shows synchronized flight over Lake Washington with the Seattle skyline in the background.

The photo was taken from a conference room in the Microsoft Innovation Lab in Bellvue .

The event, was organized by our daughter and was held for the Seattle Rainier Club.

Today’s photo shows the 326 gallon marker on the Troll Avenue Bioretention System found is the Fremont area of Seattle. The goal, of the bioretention filter toxic storemwater runoff before it reaches Lake Union.

Toll Avenue is very step and when it rains a lot of water flows down the street. I was impressed that the bioretention system filters up to 641 gallons of water at a time.

The bioretention shown is part of a larger watershed project which filters hundreds of thousands of gallons of highway runoff annually.

In Seattle bike lanes are common and heavily use. This photo was taken on North
Cannel Street in the Fremont are of Seattle. It was taken near offices for Adobe and Google.

Cycling is every where but I see it most often on the Burke-Gilman Trail which stretches 12+ miles from Ballard, to Fremont, past Lake Union, though the university district, and up the west side of Lake Washington.

Plus there are numerous connections to other trails including the Interurban Trail which stretches 31 miles.

Flowers and traffic, what a pleasant surprise. This photo was taken in the Seattle Troll Knoll community art and nature project. In addition forested trails, art displays, and sculptures. They also found a space to plan flowers next to the traffic on Aurora Avenue.

Researching, in preparation for this post, I found that Seattle allows Gardening in the Planting Strip . . . (i.e. Gardening in the unpaved area between the sidewalk and street) . . . Note that you do have to apply for a permit.

I plan to search out and share additional examples.

This is a photo of the Aurora Bridge. Wikipedia says it carries Aurora Avenue over the west end of Seattle Lake Union and connects Queen Anne and Fremont. It also is the bridge under which the Troll lives . . . . to clarify, the troll does live in one of these house boats 🙂 . . . the troll lives in the abutment of the bridge (see pervious post).

I was pleasantly surprised to find that behind the Troll (see yesterday’s photo) is the Troll Knoll Forest. It shows community sprit and a love of nature.

There is even a Friends of the Troll Knoll website which includes a link to Offical Merchandise.
