Today’s photo shows a Seattle challenge. Boats and Plans on in the same body of water. You have to keep track of all the other water craft moving near you as well as any float planes which are landing or taking off.
There are officially floatplane landing zones in Seattle. However; I can attest, from personal experience, you need to keep your eyes on the sky as well as the water.
I’m showing my ignorance in that I had no idea there was a store named Free People. Today’s photo is of the Free People store in the UVillage Mall in Seattle. A little research finds that Free People is based on a 1970’s store called The Free People’s Store. As the business grew the name changed to Urban Outfitters which I was aware of. But in 1984 the name changed again to Free people.
I understand the name reflects the sprit of the you customers it serves. People looking for freedom and individuality in how they dress.

This vintage Fiatti sits at the entrance to an Italian restaurant we frequency in the University Village mall (most often called UVillage). The name of the restaurant is Piatti which I understand translates to Plate in English. But when we review or restaurant options we always think of this one as the restaurant with the little red car.
Today’s photo shows an art sculpture found at University Village shopping mall in Seattle.
I especially like the plaque for this art. It says: Be a penguin. Keep your hands at your sides and your feet on the ground.
I also found it humorous that the name of the store, in the background, is TWIST which contradicts the penguin suggestion 🙂
Today’s photo shows Pioneer Square, Seattle’s original neighborhood. You can see it is still going strong.
Note that we were not at this event, however our daughter and family were. They shared the photo via a text and I thought it did a great job of showing how vibrant Seattle is.

While looking for something to do with our grandkids we found Pitch and Putt which is a Par 3 gold course meet to Green Lake in Seattle.
The photo and the location allows us to continue the color theme for one more day.
Today’s photo continues to play on the theme of color. Specifically orange and yellow.
An internet search indicates this painting was most likely created by Annie Howell-Adams, a well-known Friday Harbor based artist.
This photo was taken during a recent day trip to Friday Harbor. Several other post shared details about the trip, the boats, the B&B we staycityed at, and the food.
It was just a short drive and ferry from Seattle.

Today is theme day, in the City Daily Photo community. The theme is purple and our contribution is this photo of a quilt with purple in the pattern.

We were thrilled to watch the Blue Angels at Seattle’s Seafair Festival. This photo shows synchronized flight over Lake Washington with the Seattle skyline in the background.
The photo was taken from a conference room in the Microsoft Innovation Lab in Bellvue .
The event, was organized by our daughter and was held for the Seattle Rainier Club.
Today’s photo shows the 326 gallon marker on the Troll Avenue Bioretention System found is the Fremont area of Seattle. The goal, of the bioretention filter toxic storemwater runoff before it reaches Lake Union.
Toll Avenue is very step and when it rains a lot of water flows down the street. I was impressed that the bioretention system filters up to 641 gallons of water at a time.
The bioretention shown is part of a larger watershed project which filters hundreds of thousands of gallons of highway runoff annually.
