Purity, innocence, light or, in much of Asia, mourning. All the colors of the spectrum at once. This month, City Daily Photo members all go blank.

Double your pleasure, double your fun, as the old advertising slogan has it. Two for the price of one? Two of a kind beats ace high? This month, City Daily Photo members do yin and yang at the same time. The illustration is a couple of the grandkids, cousins but best buddies.

As always, the City Daily Photo theme for January is Photo Of The Year. Out of twelve months of images, our members will show off their very best. The illustration is a picture taken in April 2025 in the Long Hall of the library at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

The City Daily Photo December theme is furry things. Puppies and kitties, or lions and tigers and bears, oh my! The illustration is at the St. Louis Zoo.

The City Daily Photo October theme is breakfast. In some places it could be an espresso and pan au chocolate or an egg and sausage burrito with hot sauce or. On our first morning in Japan, you could get cold noodles with fish. The illustration is a silly costume at a local fundraiser.

The City Daily Photo October theme is glass. Clear, mirrored or colored, simple or the wildest ideas of Dale Chihuly. It is part of our everyday lives and yet has become fine art. The illustration is a bowl seen at a fancy flea market.

The City Daily Photo August theme is vanishing points. Those of us in the West know how the flatness of painting was transformed by the discovery of optical perspective in the Renaissance. Now photography makes the concept easy. The illustration is a street with senior housing in Marysville, Kansas, where my late mother-in-law lived.

The City Daily Photo August theme is sweets. Cold, room temperature or hot, solid or liquid (but probably not gas). The common element is sugar, or a substitute. Today City Daily Photo members indulge their sweet tooth. The illustration is an ice cream vendor at a temple in Kathmandu.

The City Daily Photo July theme is bubbles. A glass of beer – or champaign? A bubble bath, soapy dishes or gossamer spheres blown by a child? Today City Daily Photo members make inflated images.

The City Daily Photo June theme is shadows. What hides there or what details might it reveal? Does it reveal form and contour? Today CDP members visit the dark side. The example is Richard Serra’s enormous steel sculpture Joe (for Joseph Pulitzer, the artist’s friend and patron) at the Pulitzer Foundation For The Arts in St. Louis.
