Seattle Daily Photo

This photo shows another common scene, in the Seattle area during spring and summer months. A blue sky as seen though a canopy of green leaves. This photo was taken at the Llandover Woods Greenspace which is about a half of a mile from where we live.

This is a more common scene of the sky in Seattle. A thin layer of clouds obscuring Mount Rainer in the background. There are actually many days with brilliant blue skies in Seattle. However, this is the most common scene during the spring and summer. During fall and winter the sky is almost always raining 🙂

The photo shared today was taken at the University of Washington. I was one of several people who took photos of this same scene.

Today is theme day, in the City Daily Photo community, and the theme is sky. Our contribution is this photo of the Standpoint Country Club. The photo was taken looking east at twilight and presents a soft red glow on the horizon. An internet search finds that the description for this effect is the Belt of Venus. It is caused by scattering of long-wavelength (red) light by the atmosphere.

This photo was taken during a crew camp our daughter participated in. We were pleased she said she enjoyed it and is signed up for another crew camp this coming summer.

Rowing is very big is Seattle. So much so that there is a book, on the subject, called Boys in the Boat. I highly recommend the read. It is also a movie.

Interestingly we saw this houseboat after dropping our granddaughter off at a boathouse. As in a house to store boats. In this case sculls for rowing. She was taking a class in crew.

Zillow estimates the value of the houseboat, shown in today’s photo, at $3.4 million.

It feels great to be in the mist of so many truly wonderful people.

While strolling through the Fremont neighborhood we found this display of a piece from the Berlin Wall.

The plaque says: “This piece of the Berlin Wall arrived in Fremont in 2001 to commemorate the role of Seattle and Boeing’s C-47 in the Berlin airlift of 1948.” . . . “Thank you to the Burke family and History House for retaining this piece of history.”

This statue was found on a walk next to Lake Union. The plaque says “Sir Chinmoy – Dreamer of World-Peace . . . Kindly take a moment to hold the Peace Torch and offer your goodwill to humanity.”

A selfie with my granddaughters find front of Grateful Bread. The food is great and the athmospher is eclectic. It reminds me of a Jerry Garcia tie I wore back when I wore suites. Making a statement with a tie dye tie in pinstripes . . . Oh so many years ago . . . I’ll have to look that tie. It may still be in my closet.

While watching my granddaughters game of soccer, this photo was snapped catching their dog dressed as a tiger. A way to get around the rules.
