The example is Richard Serra’s enormous steel sculpture Joe (for Joseph Pulitzer, the artist’s friend and patron) at the Pulitzer Foundation For The Arts in St. Louis.

The City Daily Photo May theme is very small. It may be a matter of context, like the moon in the night sky Maybe it is something that measures a new centimeters – or millimeters. This example is the heart of a zinnia. Today CDP members get out their macro lenses and explore the tiny.

The City Daily Photo April theme is stripes. They require geometry and color but don’t have to be straight. They are found in nature and human works. The butterfly in the illustration was found in the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. Other CDP members will show their true stripes.

The City Daily Photo March theme is fire. It can be creative or destructive. It helps feed us and warm our homes. It can destroy our cities. The illustration is of fire dancers who perform at beachfront restaurants in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Find out what other CDP members have on the front burner.

The City Daily Photo February theme is motors. They used to run almost everything until the silicon chip came around and we still need them to power us through daily life. Motorcycles are and obvious choice but there is a lot more to choose from. Here’s what runs CDP members’ worlds.

As always, City Daily Photo members give us their best shot (literally and figuratively) on New Year’s Day from the 12 months that just ended. With creative photographers from all around the works, we’re expecting some very creative images.

Our December theme is is slow. It seems antithetical to the times we live in but it’s unhealthy to keep up a frantic pace forever. Sometimes we have to turn it down, reduce the pace and just relax. CDP members around the world show us things that take time to develop.

Our November theme is is cooking. Everyone eats but not all of us are skilled in the kitchen. Members who are can show their stuff. The rest of us can go to restaurants and peek into the kitchen. What’s  for dinner?
